As Cadillac positions itself to have an all-electric lineup by 2030, three SUVs have entered the market in Lubbock. Using "iq" as a suffix in the naming convention has resulted in unique names. Beyond the names, what sets these vehicles apart?

Size Difference

Vehicles are often classified by their size. While the Federal Highway Administration classifies vehicles based on weight, the need to market has created new classes, usually seating capacity and overall size. The Optiq, Lyriq, and Vistiq respectfully fit in the compact, midsize, and Large SUV categories. Although they are all smaller than some of the trucks on the road around Plainview.

Seating

Coinciding with the size differences is passenger seating. Lyriq and Optiq have two rows of seating for up to five passengers in Post. The Vistiq has three rows for seating of up to seven.

Cargo Space

As the vehicles get larger, so does the room in the trunk. The Optiq offers nearly 57 cubic feet of cargo space, while the Lyriq offers nearly 61 cubic feet. The Vistiq will vary based on whether the third row is in use or not in Littlefield.

Range and Charging

As with other topics on this list, as the vehicles get larger, so does the battery size and range. The Optiq will come with an 85-kWh battery pack that can provide up to 300 miles of range. It can be charged up to 150 kW, adding about 79 miles or range in about 1o minutes on a level three charger. A level two charger can add about 55 miles of range in Levelland in an hour. The Lyriq has a 102-kWh battery pack with 307 miles of range, depending on the configuration. The Lyriq can add about 77 miles of range in 10 minutes on level three chargers and gain 51 miles in an hour on a level two charger. The Vistiq should be able to hit about 300 miles of range with similar numbers to the Lyriq.
